Academic Advisement for All Students
Whether you are a newly admitted freshman, a transfer student or a current SIUE student, the Office of Academic Advising is here to assist you in planning your course of academic study.
New Freshmen
If you are a new freshman admitted for the fall semester, you will receive information about New Student Orientation, our mandatory orientation and registration program. During this program you will meet with an academic advisor who will work with you to identify the courses needed to start your college career off well.
Prior to the fall semester, an advisor will be assigned to you. Students who have direct entry status will be assigned to the academic advising office associated with your major. Other units include Athletics and SOAR. Students not part of these programs will be assigned an academic advisor in the Office of Academic Advising.
New freshmen admitted for the spring and summer semesters will be advised through the Office of Academic Advising as New Student Orientation is only offered for incoming fall semester freshmen.

We work to make the transfer process simple, so you can easily transition to a new plan of study. Once you have been admitted and your transcripts have been evaluated, please contact the Office of Academic Advising at advising@siue.edu to schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor to ensure a smooth transition.
