The Building Illinois’ Bioeconomy (BIB) consortium provides educational opportunities and hands-on training aimed at preparing residents of Illinois and neighboring states for in demand, high-wage jobs in the bioeconomy. The consortium was made possible through funding from a U.S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant.
The BIB consortium, spanning across the state of Illinois, comprises one university and four community colleges which collaborate towards offering flexible programs, with options for stackable credentials, leading to bioeconomy careers. BIB consortium partner schools include:
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE)
Lewis and Clark Community College (L&C) in Godfrey
Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) in Harrisburg
Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) in Springfield
Carl Sandburg College (CSC) in Galesburg
2014: U.S. Department of Labor awards the Building Illinois’ Bioeconomy Consortium $10 million through a TAACCCT grant (Round 4)
2016: BIB Consortium partners sign Memorandum of Understanding for the purpose of providing multiple pathways for students to meet education and career goals
