Southeastern Illinois Community College provides accessibility as the area’s leader in online classes, high school dual credit programs, accelerated courses and night classes.

Southeastern Illinois College is committed to providing high-quality and convenient training to support both the ethanol and biodiesel industries in response to the growing need for a well-trained biofuels workforce. Biofuels have become significant sources for transportation fuel in the United States. By using ethanol and biodiesel we can reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil and significantly reduce pollution.

SIC’s Bioenergy Program will continue to benefit and grow as a national leading certificate program because of its collaboration with Building Illinois’ Bioeconomy. Through the Consortium, participants can gain employment in the vast array of water resource careers including managing watershed, groundwater, and wastewater; chemical and refining operations; and the bioeconomy, such as chemical, animal feed, and fuel production. These courses will be online and/or hybrid courses that allow those seeking employment to build upon high school diplomas and/or limited skill sets to improve and become eligible for jobs in the Bioeconomy industry.

The program provides standardized training in both traditional credit-based education and competency-aligned training in the biofuels industry. The program prepares students to find a position in the biofuels industry, transfer to a senior institution for advanced training, or participate in an entrepreneurial role in this field.
